For this Project: Think about the essential questions:
  • What kind of society do you want to live in?
  • What kind of citizen do you want to be?
You'll focus on a social issue of your choice and figure out how to show your view of that topic through art.  Art has been used as protest forever. This is your chance to express your views in a creative way.

You artwork will be one of the following:
  • A commentary or send a message about your Social Justice topic
  • A solution to your Social Justice problem
  • An explanation of how your Social Justice topic impacts the affected population
Picture
Goals:
  • Create a piece of art in the artistic style of your choice that reflects upon the essential question.
  • Students will be able to connect the art they create to a social justice topic that is important to them.

Proposal Directions
Write a short statement (one paragraph) explaining what you are planning on doing for your artwork.

Your artwork will be one (or a combination) of the following:
  • A commentary or message about your Social Issue
  • A solution to a problem created by your Social Issue
  • An explanation of how your Social Issue topic impacts the affected population

In your proposal paragraph, refer back to pages 9-10 and explain:
  • Why you’ve chosen the Social Issue you chose,
  • Why it’s important and/or interesting to you,
  • Why it’s a problem,
  • What artistic style you’ve chosen and why,
  • How the artistic style connects to the Social Issue (if it does), and
  • What your artwork will look like.

This should not be more than a page!
